Yes — completely legal and actively encouraged. There are no restrictions on collecting rainwater from your own roof. Some municipalities even offer incentives for water-saving installations. All our systems comply with local by-laws and SANS standards.
How much water can I collect from my roof?
A typical 150m² Pretoria roof can collect around 9,000–12,000 litres from a single good summer thunderstorm. The formula: roof area (m²) × rainfall (mm) × 0.8 = litres collected. We calculate your specific catchment during our free assessment.
Can the harvested water be used for drinking?
Basic systems produce water suitable for garden irrigation, toilet flushing, laundry and vehicle washing without treatment. For potable drinking water, we install multi-stage filtration including sediment filters, activated carbon and UV sterilisation. We advise on the right filtration level based on your intended use.
What size JoJo tank do I need?
For garden and irrigation use, a 2,500–5,000 litre JoJo is typically sufficient. For whole-home backup, we recommend 5,000–10,000 litres minimum. For farms, 20,000+ litre bulk tanks may be appropriate. We calculate the optimal size during your free assessment — there's no one-size-fits-all answer.
